Guide to Add & Configure Widgets: A Step-by-Step Process

Add widgets to the Infoboard with the simple drag and drop feature to start configuring the widgets. Choose the appropriate Datasource type and define the required measures and dimensions. Below are the steps on how to add and configure a widget in Infoveave.

  1. To configure widgets, drag and drop the required widget from the component panel to the Designer. Let us choose a bar chart for this tutorial.

  2. To configure the bar chart on the canvas, click on the bar chart.

  3. Click on Configuration tab and configure the required fields such as Datasource, measures and dimensions.

    • Let us select our Datasource as the “Sales Data” under Sources.
    • Select Revenue as the measure value.
    • Choose City as the axis (dimension value).
  4. To format the measure value (Revenue), click on the gear icon, positioned next to the measure.

    • Specify the quantity or unit associated with the measure.
    • Add a prefix if required. Let us put the prefix value as ”$”
    • Choose the desired format from options like Auto, %, and None.  Let us keep the formatting style as ##,##,###.
    • Set the precision level for decimal places. Set precision to be “0 (Zero)”.
  5. To format the Dimension value, click on the gear icon positioned next to the dimension (City) and rename your dimension filed.

  6. If you are selecting Date Dimension, you can customize it by clicking on the gear icon positioned next to the date dimension.

    • Specify the name for the date dimension.
    • Choose the order date for the dimension.
    • Select the appropriate calendar type, such as Default, FY Calendar, or Custom Calendar.
    • Set the level of granularity for the date dimension, including options like Default, Year, Quarter, Month, Week, or Day.
    • Define the label format for the date dimension.
  7. Save or apply the changes to the widget configuration.

Guide to Customize Widgets: A Step-by-Step Process

The Widget Customization in Infoveave allows you to tailor the appearance of the selected widgets to meet the specific data visualization needs. Below are the steps on how to customize the added widget in Infoveave.

  1. To customize the widget, select the widget you want to customize on the designer canvas.
  2. Click on the Customization option, located on the right side of the screen.
  3. Click on the Title option in the customization panel to give a widget title to the added bar chart.
  4. Click on Enable button to enable the widget title option.
  5. Give the widget a proper title indicating what insight is showcased under Label. Let us keep the widget title as “Revenue Generated by City”.

Configure

  1. Give the title a background color. Let us set the title background color to Blue.

  2. Add font style and decorations as required. Now your widget will be added with a title as below.

  3. To customize the widget categorical axis, collapse the Title option and click on Categorical axis.

  4. Click on the General option to expand the menu option.

  5. To customize the Axis name, click on the Edit Name option.

  6. The action opens up the Label editor for you to customize the Axis name.

  7. Click on Save button once the Label is customized.

Label Editor

  1. To add gap/spacing between the axis name and the axis label name, set the Name Gap value. For the created bar chart let us set the value to “120”.

  2. To customize the Axis Label name, click on the Edit Name Label option.

  3. The action opens up the Label editor as above, to customize the Axis label name.

  4. Click on Save button once the Label is customized.

  5. To customize the widget numerical axis, collapse the categorical axis option and click on Numerical axis.

  6. Click on the General option to expand the menu option.

  7. To customize the Axis name, click on the Edit Name option.

  8. The action opens up the Label editor for you to customize the Axis name.

  9. Click on Save button once the Label is customized.

  10. To add gap/spacing between the axis name and the axis label name, set the Name Gap value. For the created bar chart let us set the value to “70”.

  11. To customize the Axis Label name, click on the Edit Name Label option.

  12. The action opens up the Label editor as above, to customize the Axis label name.

  13. Click on Save button once the Label is customized.

  14. To customize the measure values on the bar chart, click on Series option.

  15. To customize the Axis name, click on the Edit Label option.

  16. The action opens up the Label editor for you to customize the Axis name.

  17. Click on Save button once the Label is customized.

  18. Set the orientation to be 0 degree.

  19. Set the label position to “Right” to make the bar chart look better. Customize Series

  20. Click on the Save option to save the bar chart customization.

  21. The bar chart has been customized to meet the design requirements. You are welcomed to explore more on the customization options available.

Note: Please make sure you have a minimum of 3 charts, a check box filter, and a measure label widget configured in your Infoboards.
